This October 14th we’re celebrating Winnie-the-Pooh’s 90th anniversary, which marks 90 years since his first arrival in the Hundred Acre Wood.
When I was a child, I loved Winnie-the-Pooh. I had many stuffed animals in his honor and religiously watched the cartoon. Through Pooh, I saw a glimpse into true friendship, a warm cooperation and the strong cohesion between the inhabitants of the Hundred Acre Forest, namely Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, Owl and the lovable but negative Nancy Eeyore.
Their adventures became adventures. Those Adventures became the stories that I told my children. My fondest memory of my now 10-year-old son is him cutely singing “Gotta get up, I’ve gotta get going. I’m gonna see a friend of mine” in that adorable little 4-year-old voice of his. He would sing that line on repeat all day long. He would even sing it to himself him I would put him down to go to sleep.
I love how I could share something from the childhood of my mother and myself with my kids. So let’s celebrate together 90 years of love and friendship with Winnie- the -Pooh.
