VILLA PIA: Family holiday in Tuscany

The holidays are coming up and, oh boy, are we excited!

I was always fascinated by families who whipped up an unforgettable and inexpensive holiday a few weeks before leaving. I, on the other hand, belong to those who plan half a year in advance, sweating over brochures, on-line booking sites and getting frustrated as I go along. And that does not usually deliver best price/quality ratio.

I need to confess that my favorite German word is Vorfreude, the capacity to feel joy for an event that will happen in the future, even if we are talking about half a year or more into the future. Statistics show that many families, especially in Germany, start planning their summer holidays in February, and that by March they have already booked and paid their vacation. Chapeau!

It does not have to be that way, however! Being spontaneous and free spirited can seem impossible once you have children and a family to think of, but it really is not.  I have found a little jewel which combines luxury with family friendliness and is nested in the Tuscan hills.  VILLA PIA: the ideal place for a family holiday.

Villa Pia is an award winning family villa in Lippiano, set against the beautiful backdrop of Tuscany. Nestled between Umbria and Tuscany, Lippiano is a traditional town which embodies the classic Tuscan landscape . Luscious green fields, olive groves and vineyards make up the breath-taking views, and offer a wonderful day of exploring for all the family.

Villa Pia stands on five acres of land, where you and your children can enjoy our two swimming pools, sand pit, trampoline, indoor soft play room and adventure play space. Beyond the gates you will find Lippiano’s storybook 10th century castle surrounded by stunning woods which are perfect for hikes, mountain biking and horse-back riding.

The main building at Villa Pia is a 15th century Italian country manor house, once the summer residence for a Florentine family. Its beauty will conquer you, I can assure it.

The large, rustic house plus converted barn and stables provide 17 bedrooms, all with private bathrooms. Every room is unique, retaining original and traditional features and furnishings.

Villa Pia is a magical destination for children and adults alike. Kids love having so much space to roam about in, and parents can feel perfectly relaxed knowing their children are safe to explore on the villa’s five acres of grounds.

Cooking classes for adults as well as for children, a tennis court , a child friendly swimming pool (warm enough for little swimmers throughout the year)  and lots of more activities await you.

Just outside the villa, your knights and princesses will have fun climbing up Lippiano’s picturesque castle or wandering into the village to sample the local Italian ice cream.
