So it’s Oktoberfest, but then everyone in Munich already knew that ;). Dirndls, lederhosen and revelry is in full swing. I really love this time of year.
As an expat to Munich, being able to experience Oktoberfest was a goal, and I achieved that goal of parking my self in a beer tent every year for the last 4 years. Now it seems that this year I got a little restless and wanted to add something different and just as fun to my normal Weisn activities.
This year for the Birthday celebration of one of my dear girlfriends we decided to kick off our Oktoberfest activities with something that is 10 times more fun than you would think it would be at first glance.
A group of 8 fun-loving mommies decided that we would take a beer bike tour through Munich. Minus the beer, add several bottles of Prosecco and cheap cans of Hugo. We had a blast!!! We rented the bike from www.pedalhelden.de
With Pedalhelden you can book bikes for sightseeing tours. They have special tour events for weddings, birthdays, family events and bachelors and bachelorette parties. You can book tours from as little as 30 minutes to 3 hours. The prices are very fair.
Our tour guide Nico was the perfect guide for us. He cracked jokes and graciously laughed at our bad ones. He expertly guided us through traffic and kept all of us from falling off the bikes as we drank our way through the town.
He even obliged us by acting as cameraman, taking loads of pictures of us when we stopped at to watch the surfers at the Eisbach. He did not mind the noise of us all singing badly to the music that we had playing from the radio that we brought along with us.
This was the most fun that I have had in a long time. If you are looking for something to make your Oktoberfest a bit more memorable, try the Beer Bike tour. You will not regret it.
Munichmom tip: Ask for Nico. He was hilarious!!
